Come make signs to prepare for Hamilton’s thirtieth anniversary of Take Back the Night. Bring t-shirts or fabric for silk screening. Share snacks, ideas and conversation with awesome people. Sign making and silk screening supplies as well as snacks will be provided.
When: 6-9pm
Who: This event is open to all genders. Everyone is invited!Presented by SACHA.

Women’s Weekly Hosts a Sign Making Party

Catholic Family Service’s and Good Shepherd Women’s Services in Hamilton will be hosting a sign making party as part of their Women’s Weekly series.

When: Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 5:30-7:30pm

The first half of the evening Phil Fleming, a detective from Hamilton Police Service’s Family Violence Resource Unit, will be speaking and in the second half the glitter, poster board and markers will come out to make amazing TBTN signs!

Snacks, coffee, tea, childcare and bus tickets are all offered.

The Women’s Centre’s Solidarity Event

Taking on the Man – Strategies for Challenging Sexism

An evening of discussion focusing on ideas around what it means to be a man, the intersections with homophobia, transphobia, and the role the media plays in cultivating sexism. We will look for strategies that we as male allies can take into our lives to challenge sexism and work towards a world without gender based violence. The discussion will be followed by a cheering section as the TBTN march passes by. Everyone is welcome!

When: Thursday, Sept ember 15th

  • 5:15pm – Poster making
  • 6:15pm – Discussion
  • 8:00pm – Cheering section for the march!
Where: Skydragon Centre – 27 King William Street, Hamilton ON
The event will be running concurrently with Take Back the Night.
